Tamil star Suriya has teamed up with filmmaker Venkat Prabhu for the first time in forthcoming horror-comedy “Masss”. He says he likes how Venkat presents his actors in out-of-the-box subjects. “Venkat’s penchant for out-of-the-box stories has always impressed me. I also love the way he presents his actors in his films, as they’ve always been very realistic. aMasss’ has portrayed me in two completely different avatars,” Suriya told IANS.
“Venkat and I had initially planned to work in a love story. But as Venkat and co. managed to give this story a twist, I really liked the final output,” he said.
The film is about a conman who is taken for a ride by someone who’s not a normal human being.
“It has all the commercial elements, yet it’s not your regular hero versus villain film. There’s something very special about it and that credit goes to Venkat,” he said.
The film, which is slated for worldwide release on May 29, also stars Nayanthara and Pranitha Subhash.
It will have a simultaneous release in Telugu in which it’s titled “Rakshasudu”.
Suriya is currently busy shooting for Tamil action-thriller “24”, while he awaits the release of his maiden production “36 Vayadhinile”, starring his wife Jyotika.
Suriya is happy for his wife, who is making a comeback after eight years.
“We’re all excited about the movie. It’s a movie for the society, especially for women who give up on their dreams. Jyotika is glowing on screen,” he added.
Meanwhile, his second production venture “Haiku”, a Tamil children’s film, will also release soon.
Suriya’s first ever supernatural thriller film Masss directed by Venkat Prabhu is gearing up for a grand month end release, simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil.
Produced by KE Gnanavelraja on Studio Greens banner, Masss / Rakshasudu stars Nayantara, Pranitha Subhash as female leads opposite Suriya.
Thanking on the success of Tamil version Yuvan Shankar Raja composed Masss audio album, Suriya has confirmed his film’s release date as May 29th in his verified Twitter page.
Meanwhile, Suriya produced 2D Entertainments presents Jyothika’s 36 Vayadhinile is slated for May 15th release.
Suriya’s Masss has been scheduled to release on May 15, adding more flavour to the summer. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the film is a supernatural thriller starring Nayantara and Pranitha opposite Suriya. While much details were not revealed about the movie, we saw two posters of Suriya in complete contrast.
Yuvan Shankar Raja is scoring music for the film. He is right now working on the audio and the audio launch will happen next week. Masss is co-produced by Studio Green and 2D Entertainment and distributed by Eros. Producer Gnanavel Raja says Masss will not be a Venkat Prabhu movie or a Suriya movie. It will be in a different flavour and the interval block is rocking
Suriya’s upcoming Tamil film 24 is facing a legal issue by none other than Bollywood star actor Anil Kapoor.
Looking in to the issue, viewers might have an idea that Anil Kapoor is hosting a TV show titled 24 [being aired in Colors] and also owns the logo and title rights. In this context, Anil Kapoor contacted Suriya and discussed the same.
Suriya seems to have assured Anil to undergo a change in the title. However, Suriya is expected to announce his new title soon.
Vikram K Kumar directing Suriya, Samantha starring 24 commenced in Mumbai couple of days before. Suriya himself producing the movie on his 2D Entertainments banner with AR Rahman’s music.
Suriya kick started shooting of his next film in Mumbai [April 9]. Titled as 24, Vikram K Kumar will be directing this Suriya starrer.
Suriya will once again romance his Anjaan actress Samantha in this sci-fi film. Film 24 team is expected to shoot for one month schedule in the city before heading to other locations.
24 will be Suriya’s third production film under his 2D Entertainments banner, after Jyothika’s 36 Vayadhinile and Pandiraj directing Haiku. Double Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman is in charge of music for “24”.
Multiple sources have confirmed that Suriya will star in Singam 3 and that the film will go on floors once the Singam actor completes Vikram Kumar’s 24. Sources have also said that Anirudh Ravichander has been signed in to compose the music.
Hari, who directed the first two films will wield the microphone for the second sequel as well. Earlier, it was also speculated that Anushka Shetty who was paired opposite Suriya in the previous two movies will feature in Singam 3 as the female lead.
However, official confirmation on the same and details about other cast and crew is still awaited. Suriya is expected to finish Vikram Kumar’s 24 by the end of August and hence Singam 3 will be kick started from early September, according to sources.
Knowing Hari’s dedication when it comes to completing a project, there are chances that Singam 3 could be completed before the end of this year. With both Singam and Singam 2 tasting success, Singam could well turn out to be one of the most successful series of films in Kollywood.
Meanwhile, Suriya’s Masss, being directed by Venkat Prabhu has reached the last leg of its shooting and the movie is expected to go into the post production mode very soon. With the Vaaranam Aayiram actor having more than three films under his belt, starting from the end of this year, fans are most likely to be treated by a string of Suriya films
Actor Suriya’s Masss is shaping up well and we hear that the film’s team have started a fresh schedule in Tuiticorin.
After shooting for his previous films like Hari directed Singam and Singam 2 in Tuiticorin, Suriya has once again chose to shoot some important fight sequences for his upcoming film Masss there.
Tipped to be a supernatural thriller, Masss is being directed by Venkat Prabhu with the likes of Nayantara, Pranitha, Premgie Amaren and others in the cast.
Suriya’s 2D Entertainments producing Masss has completed 80% of shooting including two songs. Masss unit is expected to fly Bangkok soon to shoot remaining songs and its a wrap.
For now, Masss is being planned to hit the big screens for Tamil New year, on 14th April 2015.
