The makers of Suriya-starrer Tamil science-fiction thriller “24” shot a few scenes at a popular cricket stadium here that used to be the home turf for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Pune Warriors before it was dismissed from the cricket tournament.
“The team shot a couple of sequences in Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune. They wrapped up the shoot in a single day and are currently filming the last schedule of the film,” a source from the film’s unit told.
Also starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen in the lead roles, the film is being directed by Vikram Kumar.
Tipped to be a film high on computer graphics, the post-production work will reportedly take about two months and the work will start from November.
Produced by Suriya, the film has music by A.R. Rahman.
Nitya Menen, who was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s “O Kadhal Kanmani”, has paired up with actor Suriya for the first time in upcoming Tamil thriller “24”, which also features Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
“Nitya has been roped in for an important role. She’s currently shooting for the project in Mumbai,” a source close to the actress told.
Reportedly, Suriya plays dual roles in the film and it’s quite possible that Nitya may be one of the leading ladies.
Being directed by Vikram Kumar, the film is said to be a racy thriller laced with time travel elements.
This is the second time Nitya has teamed up with director Vikram. The duo has earlier worked in Telugu blockbuster “Ishq”.
Double Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman will score the music for the film, which also features veteran actor Girish Karnad in an important role.
The cast and crew of Anjaan have wrapped up a hectic 47 day schedule in Goa and Mumbai. According to UTV Chennai head G Dhananjayan, shooting for the film is now 80% complete, including a couple of songs and the majority of the action sequences. The movie stars Suriya and Samantha Prabhu in lead roles while Lingusamy directs. Anjaan will release on August 2014.
UTV Motion Pictures is producing Anjaan and UTV’s CEO Dhananjayan tweeted: “#Anjaan team packs up after a non-stop 47 days schedule at Mumbai & Goa & returning today. Large part of the film is over with this:-).”
Producer N. Subhash Chandra Bose says that the shoot of Suriya-starrer Tamil actioner “Anjaan” was halted, but was not disrupted as rumoured. He says everything is under control and the shoot is progressing smoothly.
On Sunday, members of the Tamil fringe groups came to meet N. Linguswamy, director of “Anjaan”, and requested him to stop the screening of his recently distributed Tamil film “Inam” which revolves around a group of orphans during the Sri Lankan civil war.
“The shoot had to be stopped because they had come to meet the director and discuss about ‘Inam’. There was absolutely no protest as is being rumoured. Everything is under control and we have continued shooting,” Subhash told IANS.
Linguswamy distributed Santosh Sivan-directed “Inam”, which released worldwide Friday. Following the request from these groups, Linguswamy Monday pulled out “Inam” from cinemas in Tamil Nadu.
“We’ve nearly completed 80 percent of the film’s (‘Anjaan’) shooting. We are also planning to release the film’s look soon,” he added.
“Anjaan” also features Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Vidyut Jamwal, Manoj Bajpai, Rajpal Yadav, Dalip Tahil in important roles.
