Bollywood keep watching Suriya

Bollywood is watching Suriya very closely it seems. His Ghajini was remade in Hindi with Aamir Khan and Asin and had record collections at the box office besides making a big star out of Asin. Aamir was full of praise for Suriya’s performance and his words influenced other leading stars to keep an eye on the wealth of talent that is Suriya.
Not surprisingly, shortly after that Ajay Devgn took a leaf out of Aamir’s book and chose to hop on the remake bandwagon. The result was that Suriya’s film with Hari, Singam was made in Hindi as Singham with Ajay and Kajal Agarwal. This film repeated the success of its predecessor and has become a milestone in Ajay Devgn’s career. The film has also given a big boost to Kajal Agarwal’s Bollywood aspirations. Anushka, who was originally asked to reprise her role, said she regretted not doing it and is waiting for her big break in Bollywood.

John Abraham is the next in line to use a Suriya film to revive his prospects in Bollywood. After delivering a few films that met with a lukewarm response from the audience, he took a break from films and was mainly in the news for his breakup with Bipasha Basu. John is dying for a hit and he has chosen Kaaka Kaaka remake as his comeback film. Genelia is his heroine and the film is called Force. Kaaka Kaaka is considered by many to be one of Suriya’s finest films and the makers of the film in Hindi are upbeat about its prospects of striking gold at the box office.

Suriya caught maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s eye and the director gave him a meaty role in his Raktha Charithra. The critics and fans loved Suriya in the film. Having had a taste of him, Bollywood is hankering for more but Suriya politely declined and made it clear that Tamil cinema is where his heart is. We are thrilled with his decision, after all who can get enough of Singam Suriya?

Surya loses his big chance of ‘The Businessman’ to Mahesh Babu

A Big disappointment for Surya as he loses his offer to Mahesh Babu… The film titled ‘The Businessman’ was supposed to be a trilingual movie made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi directed by famous Tollywood director Puri Jaganath, maker of original version of ‘Pokkiri’. The film was to be produced by Ram Gopal Varma under his banner. But now the offer has been bagged by Mahesh Babu and the shooting will take off from May 2011 once he completes shooting for his present project ‘Dookudu’ that has Samantha playing female lead role.

Suriya was to play the lead character of a gangster travelling from South India to Mumbai and his life story. The film has a tagline that reads ‘Guns Don’t Need Agreement’. The details about film’s heroine and other crewmembers will be announced shortly.

“I don’t interfere in making of my films” says Surya

For Surya, ‘Rakht Charitra’ is a major film. Other than the fact that he is working with one of his favourite film makers Ram Gopal Varma for the first time, he is also excited about the fact that the film gave him an opportunity to work in a trilingual. Though he went as per the flow for the Telugu and Hindi versions, he volunteered to perfect the dialogues of the Tamil version by bringing another experienced professional. Not just that, he also spent time with this writer to ensure that things progressed in a manner that he thought was perfect.

“I did rope in this writer but apart from supervising what he was delivering, I didn’t have any other involvement,” says the ever-so-humble sounding actor in a low tone, “I have never done anything like this before. Normally, I just go for a narration and if I like it, I sign a film. I don’t get into dialogues or interfere in how some scenes should be written or end up fretting about the camera angles.”

In case of ‘Rakht Charitra’, his pet project, he did make an exception. “I do want all my projects to be the best. Hence, just for the Tamil version, I stepped in a little further as well”, he confirms.

The film releases all over on 3rd December.

After Robot comes Suriya

The process to launch superstars from Tamil films has begun. Ram Gopal Varma is going all out to launch the second instalment of Rakht Charitra (Raktha Charitra in Telugu and Rattha Charitiram in Tamil). The second instalment holds a lot of significance since it stars superstar Suriya in the lead. In fact, RGV has thought of a novel strategy to announce the arrival of Suriya in Bollywood. Massive hoardings are coming up at strategic points in Andheri and Juhu with focus on Suriya alone. However, it’s the caption that catches your attention: ‘After Robot The Rajni, it’s Surya The Ghajini’.

It may be recalled that Suriya had enacted the main lead in the Tamil version of Ghajini, which was remade in Hindi with Aamir Khan. In the coming 21 days, the promotions of Rakht Charitra 2 are only going to go bigger and better.

Suriya not to speak Hindi

Suriya, who is making his Bollywood debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Raktha Charithra’, has suggested the director to opt for a professional dubbing artiste to dub for the character played by him.
“Because, the role I play in ‘Raktha Charithra’ should be real. Audiences should get convinced with my character. Hence I wanted a dubbing artiste to do the job to maintain the nativity”, he says.

Saying that he was scared of speaking in Hindi right from school days, the actor adds: “I don’t know why. But it was always tough for me to learn Hindi, though I married a Punjabi girl and the language is often spoken at my home”.

On the film, he says, “RGV has shaped it up in a very interesting way. It is a realistic film with a raw touch”. It may be recalled that the actor roped in a Hindi tutor to get his act right on the sets of ‘Raktha Charithra’.

Surya wows Ram Gopal Varma

Actor Surya has been doing well as an actor, not only because of his acting skills, but for his passionate dedications in maintaining a good body language and body building. ‘Oh my god, just watch his body building style’ – I said this wondering to myself after watching his physique in Ram Gopal Varma’s Raktha Charithram.

The director himself has said such words after watching his great improvement in body after a month Surya requested him to give a break, mainly for this development.

‘So far, I enjoyed shooting women’s body and for the first time, I was awestruck shooting a male’s body’ says Ram Gopal Varma.

It is looking like that Surya will gain more applause than Vivek Oberoi himself and other lead actors in this film.
