Actor Surya along with Kajal Agarwal and 500 dancers is shaking a leg for a peppy romantic number for ‘Maatraan‘ in the scorching heat of Jodhpur. The team is shooting in a high temperature of 41 degrees in the desert.
The film that was initially slated for a summer release saw an indefinitely delay thanks to a tussle between FEFSI and TFPC.
‘Maatraan‘ is a high voltage action entertainer that brings back to big screen the hit combination of KV Anand, Surya and Harris Jayaraj who earlier delivered blockbuster ‘Ayan‘. This film has Kajal Agarwal as the lead lady.
‘Maatraan‘ that has some stunts captured with performance motion capture technology is touted to see Suriya in more than one dimension, with both positive and negative shades.
“While I understand that fans are very very important to the growth of any actor, I don’t see any need to increase the number of fan clubs by introducing a separate flag or doing other things. I want to do different things in films alone,” said Suriya.
The actor was speaking to journalists in Chennai on Monday afternoon, regarding his recent release ‘7aum Arivu’. “There are mixed reviews for the film. But still it is huge success,” he said, adding: “I take positive and negative feedback with the same spirit.”
“Many ask whether Bodhidharman is really a Tamilian. Intense research was done by director AR Murugadoss before we commenced shooting for 7aum Arivu. So I don’t want to go further into that topic,” said the actor, who had played a Buddhist monk and a circus artiste in the movie.
On his forthcoming film ‘Maatraan’, directed by KV Anand, he said, “I feel gifted to bag such a role. It is no easy thing for any actor to do such a character. And I am happy to work with Anand after the super hit Ayan. Maatraan will be a complete commercial treat.”
Suriya celebrated his birthday (July 23) on the sets of his KV Anand directed Maatran, which had kicked off a few days earlier.
The star spend his time till evening shooting for the film.
Surya said: “It was another day at work. I have just started Maatran where I’m back with KV Anand after Ayan. Too early to talk about it but it is sure to entertain the audiences.”
Meanwhile the star is all excited about his forthcoming sci-fi film 7am Arivu directed by AR Murgadoss.
Says Suriya: ” It is something totally different, where we have tried out something new within the formats of commercial cinema”.
On Saturday night, Suriya was at home celebrating his birthday with family and close friends.
Though Suriya was not able to take the Bollywood audiences by storm with his debut film Raktha Charithra but Bollywood offers are pouring in for the actor.
Suriya was approached by many Bollywood filmmakers but he didn’t any films. The actor was not keen in doing Hindi films for time being irrespective of the role or the money. He recently wrapped up the shoot of 7am Arivu directed by Murugadoss. Suriya is currently looking forward to start KV Anand’s next film Maatraan. It’s a big budget action film in which Suriya stars in five different roles. After Maatraan Suriya is going to join director Hari for the fourth time which is an action packed entertainer.
Bollywood filmmakers are queuing up for Suriya as he looks great and also a superstar in South so, making a film with him in the lead role makes a great business plan.
Early today we have reported that Kajal Agarwal has been confirmed as the female lead opposite Suriya and now we come across a shocking update of the film. If recalled there was an update a few days back stating that Suriya is playing five different characters in Maatraan but latest we hear is that Suriya playing 20 different roles in the film. If this is the scenario, Maatraan will surely break until now records in the industry.
Earlier we have seen Universal star Kamal Haasan playing ten different roles in Dasavatharam but Suriya coming up with twenty role sin one film is going to be a difficult task to be heard but for Suriya, the Mr. Perfectionist of Kollywood, it will be a cake walk attempt.
Maatraan is all set to start the shoot which is scheduled to take place on borders of Pakistan. KV Anand has retained the Ayan team for Maatraan also, as Harris is composing the tunes and Subha, for writing the script.
Suriya, undoubtedly is Kollywood’s number one hero at the moment. He has just completed the shoot of his AR Murgadoss directed 7am Arivu, in which Sruthi Haasan is his heroine.Suriya will start work for his next film Maatran directed by KV Anand and produced by AGS. The shoot of the film will start by the first week of June. Now the big question being asked is: “Who will be the lucky girl to be featured opposite Suriya?”It is a million dollar question and a lot of heroines from all over the country have thrown in their hat.
Remember being Suriya’s heroine you get a fantastic reach and fame. Ask Tamannaah who after being paired with Suriya in KV Anand’s Ayan reached dizzy heights.
Similarly Shruthi Haasan is all set to storm K’wood once 7am Arivu releases.
As of now as per the Kollywood grapevine, those who have been selected in the preliminary list are- Deepika Padukone, Kajal Agarwal, Taapsee and Samantha.
Deepika has asked for a very high salary, and negotiations are going on.
However the heroine with a realistic chance of grabbing the role is Kajal Aggarwal, who has emerged as the front runner. The Maghadheera girl has a reach in Andhra where Suriya has an audience and will be a star in Bollywood after doing Hindi Singam with Ajay Devgan. The only thing going against her is her not so impressive progress card (hit movie) in Tamil cinema.
The others are also trying to get this coveted role opposite the hot and happening Suriya.
