Speaking at the Poojai press meet, Hari said “I’ve narrated two different scripts to Suriya and I’m not sure whether our next film will be Singam 3 or a new one.”
After blockbusters Singam and Singam 2, the third outing in Suriya and Hari combo has sky rocketing expectations among viewers and trade.
Presently, Suriya is shooting for Venkat Prabhu directing Masss and will join Vikram K Kumar of Yavarum Nalam fame after this.
Though Hari is ready with the script, his next movie with Suriya will take time to go on sets.
Meanwhile, Hari’s Poojai is slated for October 22 release worldwide. Shruti Haasan is the female lead. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music director.
We recently updated Suriya fans on the Sunrise coffee commercial for which Suriya took stand behind the mic for the very first time !!! Well, the advert was a project undertaken by singer turned composer Karthik, who later gladly uploaded the whole session with a side note on his micro blog – “Sung for Suriya so many times, nothing beats seeing Suriya Singing.”
However, now it is time for the actor’s worldwide fans to sing a tune of praise in his name. Well, we have updates Singam 2 has crossed a 50 day run at the box office thanks to the immense support from his followers !!!
This sequel to the yesteryear hit Singam, directed by Hari, had a wholesome deal of entertainment, headed by Suriya himself, cast as police officer Durai Singam. Accompanying him were the very glamorous duo of Anushka and Hansika. And Not to forget, the comic injections from Santhanam which made this masala entertainer a jolly ride. Moreover, who can forget Anjali’s seductive dancing sensibilities cast as an item girl.
Singam 2 hit silver screens on July 5 and it received good responses in the B centers particularly. Funded by S Lakshman Kumar under the Prince Pictures banner, the producer too is happy with the collections worldwide. In fact, insiders tell us the collections will soon cross a respectable 100 crore mark. In response to all the good wishes he received, Suriya said “Thanks for all the wishes for Singam 2!!! 🙂 Keep supporting my movie! Love you all.”
It’s become a fashion in Tamil to throw in names like Katrina, Deepika, Sonam or Kareena when a big film is announced.
The media goes overboard and churns out speculative news that these A-listers from Bollywood are going to be the heroine to our larger-than-life heroes in mass action films.
Recently Soundarya Rajinikanth said that Katrina may sign Kochadiyaan opposite Rajinikanth. Earlier Deepika was supposed to be superstar’s heroine in Rana, which never took off.
Now the latest news doing the rounds is that Sonam has been signed to be Suriya’s heroine in Hari directed film. There are also reports that it’s not Sonam but the hot ‘n’ happening Anushka who has bagged the role as Hari wants to repeat the Singam magic.
Remember that Sonam was in the news lately for supposedly being signed up for Mani Ratnam’s Pookadai but later it was confirmed that Samantha is the heroine.
Bollywood is watching Suriya very closely it seems. His Ghajini was remade in Hindi with Aamir Khan and Asin and had record collections at the box office besides making a big star out of Asin. Aamir was full of praise for Suriya’s performance and his words influenced other leading stars to keep an eye on the wealth of talent that is Suriya.
Not surprisingly, shortly after that Ajay Devgn took a leaf out of Aamir’s book and chose to hop on the remake bandwagon. The result was that Suriya’s film with Hari, Singam was made in Hindi as Singham with Ajay and Kajal Agarwal. This film repeated the success of its predecessor and has become a milestone in Ajay Devgn’s career. The film has also given a big boost to Kajal Agarwal’s Bollywood aspirations. Anushka, who was originally asked to reprise her role, said she regretted not doing it and is waiting for her big break in Bollywood.
John Abraham is the next in line to use a Suriya film to revive his prospects in Bollywood. After delivering a few films that met with a lukewarm response from the audience, he took a break from films and was mainly in the news for his breakup with Bipasha Basu. John is dying for a hit and he has chosen Kaaka Kaaka remake as his comeback film. Genelia is his heroine and the film is called Force. Kaaka Kaaka is considered by many to be one of Suriya’s finest films and the makers of the film in Hindi are upbeat about its prospects of striking gold at the box office.
Suriya caught maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s eye and the director gave him a meaty role in his Raktha Charithra. The critics and fans loved Suriya in the film. Having had a taste of him, Bollywood is hankering for more but Suriya politely declined and made it clear that Tamil cinema is where his heart is. We are thrilled with his decision, after all who can get enough of Singam Suriya?
The duo combo Suriya-Hari has already succeeded with flying colors after the hat-trick success of Aaru, Vel and recent release Singam.
The recent buzzes are that they will be back together again for another commercial entertainer. According to the sources it has been revealed that Hari will direct Suriya and the film will go on floors by mid-of-2011.
Hari is now busy shooting for his next film Vengai that has Dhanush and Thamannah in lead roles with Raj Kiran performing a prominent character. Devi Sri Prasad scores music for the film with cinematographer Vetri joining hands with Hari for the first time.
It seems that Suriya after completing A.R. Murugadoss’ Ezham Arivu with Shruthi Haasan will start shooting for his next film to be directed by K.V. Anand. They had earlier worked together for the blockbuster movie Ayan. This untitled film will be a big-budget flick to be produced by Kalpathy S Agoram under the banner name of AGS Entertainments.
By the time, both Hari and Suriya complete their respective project, it will be July 2011 and then it will be the right moment for the duo to start their project. The details about the producers and crewmembers are yet to be confirmed.
